EXQUISITE CORPSE

DESCRIPTION

Wenwen Qiu, Sarita Sun, and I were in a team, to complete this collabrative portrait. The head of the final portrait came from my own figure; the upper body came from Wenwen's figure; the lower body was designed by Sarita.

I create a figure, who is born with pinky eyes and hair. And she loves dancing. Here is her portrait:



I decide to pick up my favorite parts from each figure. Combining them together: The color palette of each figure unexpectedly fit together well. Since they are all pinky or red. When I start to transfer to p5 sketch, I start with drawing the basic shapes. Here comes my initial sketch.

Then I adjust detials, and add animations.
The cursor is turned into sparkles. Her eyes blinks constantly.

Then I combine analog and digital techniques. I add a layer of hand-drawn shadow to increase the futuristc feeling. In addition, I upload a soundtrack to further narrate the story of R325. Click anywhere to play the soundstrack. Click again to stop.

REFLECTION

Each of us has a totally different illustration style, which makes the final figure very interesting and unexpected. However, none like previous projects, this time there is a specific image given, with a lot of details. I find it to be hard to reproduce the exact image in code. But p5 sketch "forces" me to modify certain details, which also result in some unexpected outputs. My original figure is a girl, who is born with pinky eyes and hair. Loves dancing. The collabrative figure has a different background story. The girl is named R325. She is from the future, the year of 3020. She comes to 2020 by accident. Now she is wondering around trying to find her way back home.
